Imphal, August 24 2014:
With the State Government allegedly failing to take up concrete steps to implement Inner Line Permit System in the State despite the mass protest, Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) which is spearheading the ongoing demand for ILP implementation has decided to launch a massive drive in association with local clubs and women folks to identity non-locals residing without proper identification documents by knocking at every residential house from today.
The Committee has also decided to send those outsiders who fail to provide valid ID proof back to their native places.

Informing these during a press meet at its office located at Nongmeibung here, Ibotombi Khuman, convener of JCILPS, said that people have been demanding to enforce the ILP system to safeguard the indigenous people from the onslaught of unregulated entry of outsiders but the Government has remained a silent spectator on the serious issue, thereby undermining the aspiration of the people.
He then announced that restriction on entry of non-locals or residing in the State without proper ID documents has been put in place until the ILP system is implemented and appealed to landlords not to allow non-locals without proper ID documents to stay in their rented rooms or houses.
Maintaining that the committee will also take up effective steps to foil non-locals from getting government jobs by using forged voter cards and domicile certificates, he cautioned that necessary actions will be initiated against those village authorities, Pradhans, Zilla Parishads who are found providing domicile certificate to outsiders.
He also demanded unconditional release of advocate Arjun, executive member of JCILPS, who was arrested by the police and warned of launching various intense agitations if advocate Arjun is not released at the earliest possible.
Today's meeting was also attended by Lourembam Nganbi, convener of JCILPS Women's Wing and Moirangthem Angamba, convener of JCILPS Students' Wing.
