Imphal, June 13 2014 :
Urging for reconstitution of Manipur Human Rights Commission (MHRC) which has been remaining defunct since May 9, 2010 due to non-appointment of its Chairman and other staff, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Manipur Pradesh submitted a memorandum to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on June 12 .
The memorandum mentioned that the Gauhati High Court had already directed the State Government to reconstitute Manipur Human Rights Commission within four months.
However, till today the commission has not been reconstituted on the pretext there is no person qualified/eligible for appointment as Chairman/members, etc in the State of Manipur.
