WAD calls for fighting against crime on women

Imphal, June 13 2014 :
Women Action for Development (WAD) has strongly condemned alleged rape of a 13 years old student of Government Ideal Blind School, Takyel under Lamphel police Station on April 14 last.
In a statement, WAD said that it was very unfortunate for all of us that the women and girls of the state are frequently subjected to rape, murder, torture etc.
As per reported from the daily local newspaper from 1st Jan to 31st May 2014, there is a total no.of 18 cases of rape.
WAD strongly opposes all these increasing crimes and would further initiate appropriate steps which are deemed to be fit for prevention and elimination of the crimes against women and girls, the statement added.
WAD also expressed its appreciation to Minister Ak Mirabai and concerned Police for arresting the prime accused chowkidar Him Bahadur Thapa alais Khansa and sincerely demanded the concerned authority for immediate investigation into the incident and punish the culprit accordingly.
At the same time, the concern authority should come up with several measures to prevent such heinous crime which is barbaric in nature, it added.
WAD then appealed to all the citizens of Manipur to come together and fight collectively to save the future generation and to have a violent free society.
