Ibobi wins heart of Kasom Khullen

Along with inaugurating a newly constructed building of the Kasom Khullen SDO/DDO office, Chief Minister O Ibobi on Friday inaugurated a road development work to be taken up from Thoubal to Kasom Khullen in Ukhrul district under funding from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) .
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister reiterated that his Government has been making all efforts to bring equal development for both the hill and valley districts of the State.
He assured that the road that will connect Thoubal and Kasom Khulen of Ukhrul district via Yairipok, will be constructed into a fine road which can be used in all weathers.
This road will also shorten the distance from Kasom Khullen to Imphal by almost half, the Chief Minister said.
Commenting on several memorandums submitted by different social organizations to the Government on the occasion, the Chief Minister said the road development work sponsored by ADB will cover only upto Kasom Khullen.

The Chief Minister also informed that his Government will consult the Development of North East (DoNER) Ministry to confirm whether the road development work can be extended upto Thonglo village of Ukhrul district.
Ibobi further promised to consider all representations and proposals urging for ensuring sufficient supply of drinking water and electricity in Kasom Khullen area.
The Chief Minister said that he has confirmed that not a single educational institution has been set up till date in Nambashi hamlet under Kasom Khullen, inhabited by more than 400 people.
"I will take up the matter with the Education Minister to establish one Primary School in the hamlet under SSA, "the CM assured.
Ibobi further informed that a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for introducing the proposed Imphal-Mandalay bus service will be signed soon between the two neighbouring countries taking into account of the Government of India's Look East Policy.
During his trip to Ukhrul, the Chief Minister also paid a visit to Khamlang village which is located near Kasom Khullen.
A warm welcome was given to the Chief Minister by the villagers.
He addressed a public meeting at the village and assured that he would take up necessary steps to set up a community hall and a guest house for the village.
During the trip, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh was accompanied by Works Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar, Parliamentary Secretary Victor Keshing, MLA Yamthong Haokip, Principal Secretary in charge of Works Ram Muivah, Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul, representatives of Asian Development Bank and other officials.
