Imphal, June 13 2014 :
The RIMS authority has suspended five nurses from the institute for spearheading the ongoing cease work strike of the RIMS Nurses' Association, Lamphelpat over the appointment of Assistant Nursing Superintendant of the hospital, which the association has dismissed as a back door policy.
Taking disciplinary action against the agitating nurses, Director of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) S Sekharjit yesterday issued an order suspending five nurses from work for spearheading the stir.
However, the nurses' body on Friday vowed to continue with its stir until the hospital authority brings an end to the stalemate.
The five nurses who have been kept under suspension by RIMS authority are Ksh Mangolganbi Devi, AK Tombi Devi, H Sobita Devi, Kh Mina Devi and H Tampha Devi.
The health care system in the premier hospital of the State has been paralyzed due to the cease work strike by RIMS Nurses' Association.
RIMS authority and the nurse's body have been locked in the impasse for weeks over the appointment of the Assistant Nursing Superintendant.
Earlier, the nurses' association filed a case in the High Court of Manipur against the alleged secretive and scheming appointment and promotion of Nursing Sister named Ksh Binokumari Devi by the RIMS authority.
The ruling of the court on the case is still pending.
"We demand the RIMS authority to review the underhanded appointment order of Binokumari," said Th Manglembi Devi, member, RIMS Nurses' Association at a press meet at her residence in Uripok Bachaspati Leikai in Imphal West.
