Ukhrul, June 27 2012:
An intensified MGNREGS Stake Holders Training on capacity Building and Social awareness in a Blockwise manner for the six Blocks of Ukhrul district organised by DRDA Ukhrul at the multi-Purpose hall of the new Ukhrul Mini secretariat concluded today.
The training was participated by the respective stake holders of MGNREGS of the concerned Block including village headman and chairman, village Secretaries, Village Monitoring & Vigilance Committee, social workers etc.
The Executive Director of DRDA Ukhrul, Ningngam Chamroy, Project Officer Bishikanta Singh and Project Officer AC Ningshimi respectively of DRDA Ukhrul were the main trainers of the training.
The new systems of Management of Information System (MIS) were elaborately highlighted during the training for effective implementation and funding from the centre.
According to the new system every village has to upload their management of the working of MGNREGS directly to the Union Rural Development Ministry' website.
This includes the details of job cards, numbers of work done, amount received etc.
The respective village will get fund for MGNREGS only after uploading of this information.
However, the new system of MIS is unlikely to work well in the District as internet facilities in the village is still a far cry leave alone the facilities at the Block and district Headquarters.
MGNREGS was launched in Ukhrul Dist in March 2008 by the Chief Minister of Manipur O Ibobi.
During the four years span of NREGS implementation, substantive improvement in development especially in rural connectivity and poverty alleviation are seen.
Ukhrul District has about 43,799 MGNREGS Job Card holders at present.
