House pays tribute to Gougin

Along with the commencement of the monsoon session of the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly from today, members paid fitting tributes to former MLA T Gougin, who passed away earlier this month.
Gougin was elected from Singhat Assembly Constituency of Churachandpur district and passed away aged 87 years on june 5 .
After Members present observed two minutes silence for peaceful rest of the departed soul in the heavenly abode, Chief Minister o ibobi Singh in his obituary reference described Gougin as a hard-working and committed leader.
elected for the first time in the second Manipur Legislative Assembly, Gougin was a sincere social worker with a firm belief in democratic principles and ethos and his demise is not only an irreparable loss for the Zou community but also a moment to mourn for the entire people of Manipur, expressed the CM, who is also the leader of the house.
Ibobi also conveyed solidarity to the family members of Gougin in their hour of bereavement.
Trinamool Congress MLA from Oinam AC Dr I ibohalbi hailing the departed legislator as a committed social worker, suggested that a section of the gallery be preserved as a site for paying floral tributes to departed CMs and public figures.
Describing Gougin as a resilient and visionary leader, Health Minister Phungzathang Tonsing recounted that Zomi villa residential area in present day North AOC was a brainchild of the departed legislator to facilitate settlement of the Zomi people.
He also shared the sorrow of the bereaved family members.
Joining the obituary reference, Hill Areas Committee chairman Dr Chaltonlien Amo mourned the passing away of Gougin as an irreparable loss for the hill people in general and the Zomis in particular.
Singhat AC MLA Ginsuanhau and Wangjing-Tentha legislator P Brojen also commented on the passing away of Gougin.
