Imphal, June 27 2012:
Trinamool Congress, Manipur Pradesh is mulling to raise a private member resolution on Inner Line Permit System (ILPS) during the ongoing Assembly session, said the party's legislature wing leader Dr I Ibohalbi.
On being enquired by some journalists about the TC's major agenda for the Assembly session, Dr Ibohalbi said that his party has been considering to put up the issue of ILPS in view of the people's concern on the issue.
If the issue can be raised in the Assembly with due permission of the House and the Speaker, the Government would certainly give some points on the issue.
TC has also made all preparations to raise a call attention motion on the controversial death of Richard Loitam at Bangalore.
Saying that a healthy debate would be generated in the House regarding the power crisis besieging Manipur, Ibohalbi remarked that the situation is rather puzzling as Government fails to provide power supply while the majority of the power consumers are not paying bills.
Many poor power consumers are worried if their power connection would be disconnected and they would be arrested on the charge of power theft.
The situation demands the Government to declare a one-time waiver in the interest of the poor consumers.
It is also important to give additional power to MANIREDA to tap solar power more extensively, Dr Ibohalbi said.
On being enquired about the presidential election, he informed that the party's State unit has not yet received any instruction from the high command.
The high-command's instruction would be complied with, he added.
