Imphal, September 25 2011:
A day-long orientation programme for the teachers of Class XI and XII on Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) was conducted at GM Hall today.
The programme was organised by All Manipur Recognised Private Schools' Welfare Association to sensitise the teachers on CCE which is to be implemented in the schools under Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (COHSEM) in Class XII from this academic session.
Speaking at the occasion, AMRPSWA Chief Advisor N Tomba said, as announced earlier by COHSEM, CCE would be implemented to the students of Class XII for the first time in the entire North East region.
According to the guidelines of CCE, Tomba added, 20 percent of the total 100 marks would be evaluated by the respective schools through internal assessment of the students.
Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation would enable the students to get through exams easily and enhance overall past percentage, Tomba added.
He also informed the participants that CCE has been already adopted in Class X at the schools of Nagaland and Manipur from 2010 .
COHSEM Chairperson S Geeta while speaking at the function said that students of Manipur are talented and posses the required capability of entering into the competitions at the National level.
However, the teachers must fine-tune their potential and knowledge with proper guidance.
Expressing concern that COHSEM is not getting the required assistance from the Government, S Geeta informed that the Council is being run with the fees and fines collected from students.
Teachers from Imphal East and Imphal West districts took part in today's programme.
