Peace talk would be self defeating: RPF-II

Imphal, September 25 2011:
With the allegedly Government of India resorting to drug warfare with a sinister design to swoon the people of Manipur for good, there is hardly any locality in the State which has not been affected by the drug menace.
This is one major factor the rising number of widows and orphans in the society.
On the other hand, rather than promoting agriculture and allied industries in the State which is poor in mineral resources, thousands of hectares of agricultural lands have been usurped by the State in the name of development programme and modernisation project.
Instead of planning to make Manipur self-reliant on its own produces, New Delhi has been plotting continuously to render Manipur wholly dependent on imported goods.
By and by, New Delhi has succeeded in inculcating a notion among the people that Manipur cannot survive with the mercy
of India.
Meanwhile, the chronic problems of bandhs and blockades, in addition to producing adverse impacts on the economy, have been creating a restive situation in the society.
Blockade imposed by one community/group which directly challenges the right to life of other communities/groups has become a cause of conflict among different communities and this has created a situation where communal clash can break out any time.
The failure of the Government of India to take up any crisis management measures in the face of such severe crisis only testified that New Delhi has been using blockade as secret means to upset the integrity of Manipur.

New Delhi has also been deliberately staying aloof from the protracted blockade and the resultant crisis to show that Manipur cannot exist outside India, Chaoren asserted.
Meanwhile, indigenous culture, traditions and ethos are being continuously diluted and assimilated into the alien culture and practices of India.
Capitalising on the world wide phenomenon of globalisation, New Delhi has been resorting to all kinds of overt and covert strategies to fully Indianise the whole Manipur.
These strategies neither use military force nor there is much case of human rights violation, and the international community cannot see anything wrong.
Nevertheless, these strategies are being executed consistently and silently throughout the year.
The longer these strategies are executed, the greater would be the level of degradation in the indigenous values, customs and traditions.
This would also ultimately dampen the spirit of the liberation.
In such a scenario, the zeal for freedom may also be lost forever, cautioned the RPF leader.
Under such circumstances, the five-yearly elections being conducted in Manipur has turned out to be addicting opium, and has habituated the people to pipe-dreaming.
Even as elections after elections have gone and many candidates elected, good or benevolent administration still remains a mirage.
Rather, misery of the people is only multiplying every passing year.
Elections held in Manipur were mega festivals sponsored by New Delhi to hoodwink the people and keep Manipur under their alien rule permanently behind the cloak of democracy.
Even if many competent and sincere candidates were elected, the State could never achieve a peaceful, progressive and egalitarian society because the elected candidates did not have the capacity to change the corrupted Indian system nor did they ever dare to challenge the instructions given by New Delhi.
Rather than changing or rectifying the corrupted system, these candidates once they were elected became a part of the system , and they turned against their own people as agents of New Delhi, the RPF leader remarked.
A closer examination would reveal that the sole purpose of these elections is to select agents who would represent New Delhi in Manipur.
There is nothing people can expect from these sham elections.
Participation of people en masse in these elections provided a strong support to New Delhi in their false propaganda that the alien rule was a democratic government formed by elected representatives.
These sham elections have also become an effective instrument to cover up the heavy Indian military presence in all over Manipur and the criminal activities committed by them.
In view of all these factors, there is an urgent need to expedite the liberation movement all the more.
However, as long as the majority of the people remain aloof from the liberation movement, the movement can never make any substantial progress.
Even if all the people do not take up arms, each and every individual need to contribute to the movement at their best capacity.
"Our people must have the courage to openly denounce the alien rule before the whole world", Chaoren asserted.
"We should prepare and work together for such a situation for no outsiders would volunteer to do it for us.
It's high time our people join the liberation movement en masse so that we can determine our own political destiny ", the RPF president called out.
