Mini truck torched

Volunteers of the transport organisations imposing counter blockade along Imphal-Moreh road set ablaze a loaded mini-truck at Kakching Lamkhai today at around 3 pm.
The truck was carrying iron rods.
The blockade supporters signalled the truck to halt but it sped away without stopping.
The blockade supporters chased the truck and forced it to stop before setting it afire.
The front portion of the truck including engine was burnt though fire tenders of Kakching Fire Sub-Station could save its rear portion.
Earlier in the day, the bandh supporters vandalised a motorcycle (Yamaha FZ).
One Tata Sumo driver sustained injuries when UNC sponsored blockade supporters attacked a convoy of vehicles in the night of September 23 .
This prompted the Imphal-Moreh Road Transport Business Association to impose another blockade and they were supported by other transport organisations.
Yesterday too, blockade supporters vandalised one Bolero jeep, one Maruti van and one ambulance which was carrying food items.
Since yesterday, the blockade supporters have been blocking vehicular movement on Imphal-Moreh road by burning tyres in the middle of the road at Kakching Lamkhai.
Meanwhile, Thoubal district police have arrested around 12 blockade supporters.
Demanding immediate release of the arrested persons, a large group women from Kakching gheraoed Kakching police station this evening.
