Governor Gurbachan Jagat has extended warm greetings to the people of the State on the occasion of Republic Day 2013 .
Observing that India with its young population is on the verge of emerging as a leader among the Nations, the Governor in his greeting message noted that there is an urgent need to channelise the talent and potential of our youth to make a positive impact on the society while also calling upon all concerned to work together to make the country a strong, peaceful and prosperous Nation.
Pointing out that it was on this day (Jan 26)1950 that we gave ourselves a Constitution declaring our Country as a Sovereign, Secular and Democratic Republic, Gurbachan urged that the people should pay homage to the founding fathers of the Constitution for their insight and understanding on this occasion.
He said the young Indian democracy has stood firm against adversaries and it is the responsibility of the people towards the valiant freedom fighters to make the nation a leader amongst the
comity of nations.
"Successive elections have shown the power of the ballot and the will of the people.
We all are now the proud citizens of a democratic nation," the Governor said in his message.
