Ukhrul traffic police equipped with uniforms

Ukhrul, January 25 2013:
The Ukhrul Traffic Police have now been equipped with synchronized uniforms as part of initiative towards traffic regulation in the 'Taxi Town of Manipur' .
In a simple ceremony held on Thursday, Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul district R Sudhan distributed 40 traffic uniforms to Ukhrul police and lauded the initiative taken up by them towards road management in the town.
The function was attended by all ranks and files of the District Police Department including Superintendent of Police K.Kabib, Sub-Divisional Police Officer S.Selvanagarathinam, Reserve Inspector H.Chiphang and Traffic Officer In-charge Vashum Meena.
Sudhan said the effort is to inculcate a greater civic sense and understanding among the public and added that it is entirely for the interest and benefit of the Ukhrul community.
Thanks the ongoing initiative of Ukhrul police.
The town can now be hopeful of better traffic and safety on the road.
In fact, Ukhrul witnessed a series of road accidents ever since the introduction of unregulated commuter taxi few years ago.
About 250 taxis are plying on daily basis in the narrow street of the town.
Traffic police OC Meena also stated that the initiative is to strengthen the forces in managing the traffic congestion, detours, traffic accidents and improvise the traffic mobility.
