Imphal, January 25 2013:
A 13 year old disabled minor girl has been allegedly raped by a 70 year old man on January 19 amidst all the outcry and campaigns against rape and murder of women in different parts of the State.
The accused has been identified as one Kora of Lilong Shangomshang, Thoubal district.
He reportedly raped the disabled minor girl at Hayel Loubuk.
Speaking to media persons at the office of Young Women Help Organisation here today, the victim's mother said that Kora used to beg rice in their locality occasionally.
After going on a round of begging, Kora put himself up in the neighbouring house about three days back.
Kora came to the girl's house in the morning of January 19 begging rice and went back to the neighbouring house.
"Kora, being an aged man, we never suspected any harm from him.
Everyday I go to different places and work as construction labourer leaving behind all the children at home while my husband works as a rickshaw puller", the mother said.
The victim and three other siblings stayed back at home while the parents were away.
On the fateful day when the mother returned home in the evening, she found her daughter crying.
She also observed sperm as well as blood on the phanek of the girl.
On being enquired, the girl disclosed that she was raped by Kora.
However, by that time, Kora had already fled from the place.
Quoting her own daughter, the mother said that Kora entered their house when the children were playing inside.
Kora sent away other children by giving some money to buy eatables.
Taking advantage of the situation, Kora raped the minor girl.
Saying that her daughter is physically disabled person who cannot move her limbs normally like other people, the mother decried the brutal crime of raping her helpless daughter.
She urged the authority concern to nab and punish Kora according to law at the earliest.
On the following day, the family reported the matter to Thoubal police verbally.
Even as they were asked to come again but they did not.
But the girl's blood and sperm stained phanek is still with the family.
The girl has also been complaining of pain in the sexual organs.
Kora left behind his bag, bicycle and clothes when he fled away from the neighbouring house.
Young Women Help Organisation secretary Arambam Robita demanded that all the culprits involved rapes cases should be punished indiscriminately.
He also condemned in the strongest term the abominable and inhuman crime of raping a minor, disabled girl by an aged man.
