Expressing grave concern over the senselessness of the Govt in the hit and run case that claimed the life of M Awungshi Nganaongai, Headmaster of Frontier High School, New Tusom despite several memoranda, the Northern Raphei Students' Union, Ukhrul has pledged to endorse and wholeheartedly support the initiative taken by TKLI in demanding justice.
In a statement, Shangreingam Vashum, president of NRSU urged the Government to take the matter seriously and act at the earliest before any untoward incident takes place.
"When things could have been solved peacefully without any provocation or disturbances to the public, the Govt apparently seems to be waiting for an aggressive agitation to be launched," the NRSU statement rued.
The union also condemned the incident where the Headmaster, who was on official duty, was knocked down by a White colour Scorpio with red beacon light on December 18 last.
The students' body also demanded immediate booking of the driver and owner of the vehicle involved in the case, termination of the IRB man who was on duty at the northern gate of Kangla on the day, grant of ex-gratia and a suitable job to the next of kin.
Expressing confidence on the initiative taken by TKLI towards this end, the union also expressed commitment to take the case forward till justice is delivered.
