Imphal, June 21 2014 :
Five students failed this year's HSLC examination conducted by Board of Secondary Education Manipur as the Supervising Invigilator tore the pages of their answer papers and replaced it with blank papers.
In a press conference conducted at DESAM head office, Assistant Officer In-charge of Irong Private Centre opened at Southern Tangkhul Naga Baptist Church Association High School, Takhellambam Somorjit said that the matter came to light after parents of these five students sought re-evaluation of answer papers from BOSEM.
Surprisingly, answer papers of Manipuri subject for which examination was held on June 17 turned out to be a bunch of blank papers for these five students.
All the five students appeared in the examination for the subject at LI Standard English School.
Later, Supervising Invigilator Thangjam Joykumar admitted that he had replaced the answer papers submitted by these students with blank answer sheets, Somorjit said.
Joykumar had also admitted that he did the malicious act as the five students refused to stay in Mangal Boarding run by him at Ukhongshang.
Students of 10 schools appeared in the exam centre, Somorjit said.
A collective decision of the private centre has asked Irabot High School, where Joykumar is serving as a teacher, not to send him as SI in future.
Further, he said that the private centre would also request BOSEM to remove Irabot High School from the centre.
Expressing serious note of the incident, Democratic Students Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has demanded that necessary action be initiated against Joykumar.
The student's body has also announced a ban on Mangal Boarding, being run by Joykumar.
