Ukhrul folks unhappy with MSPDCL service

The Manipur State Power Distribution Company Ltd (MSPDCL) is unable to render service to the expectation of power consumers in Ukhrul district due to staff shortage.
Interestingly, the State Power Department celebrated their achievement in power sector under Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav by showcasing their growth in the power sector over the years recently.
According to credible source, the sanctioned post for MSPDCL, Ukhrul district is 256 post, but the Ukhrul unit of the company has only 46 staff currently.
Several posts such as Head Clerk, Assistant Manager (SO-II) , Draftsman-III, Draftery, Divisional Accountant, Carpenter, Assistant Meter Reader, Jugali, Steno-II, Cash Collector, Diesel Mechanic, Assistant Mechanic, SBA, Bill Distributor, Filter Grade-II and Khalasi are lying vacant at the Ukhrul branch of MSPDCL currently.
Reportedly, there is a shortage of 212 staff at MSPDCL, Ukhrul currently while only three Assistant Linemen are being posted for the whole of Ukhrul against the sanctioned post of 104 .
This shortage of staff is hindering the execution of technical electrification works greatly and also affects the power supply quality.
It might be mentioned that there are seven power substations (Litan, Hundung, Ukhrul Khunchao, Talui, Namrei and Jessami) in Ukhrul which supply electricity.
