4 power projects in pipeline

Imphal, August 24 2014:
The Government of Manipur would sign a pre-implementation agreement with the North East Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO) by the end of the current month in order to take up four hydro power projects with a total installed capacity of 368 MW.
According to an official source, the State Government would soon sign a pre-implementation agreement with NEEPCO for Irang Hydro Project of installed capacity 60 MW, Tuivai Hydro Project (51 MW), Pabram Hydro Project (190 MW) and Khongnem Hydro Project (67MW) .
Preparations are being made to sign an agreement between the State Government and NEEPCO on August 28 at Hotel Imphal regarding implementation of the four power projects.
Irang Hydropower Project which has installed capacity of 60 MW would be taken up at Taokam village, Tamenglong district.
The project would entail construction of a 104 metres high earthen dam.
Tuivai Hydropower Project woould be taken up at Deilkhai village under Thanlon sub-division of Churachandpur district.
This project too would have an earthen dam 110 metres in height.
As the name suggests, Pabram Hydropower project would be located at Pabram village, Tamenglong district and Khongem power project in Senapati district, the source added.
