The State Government has today celebrated the Statehood Day sans the Chief Minister, Dy CM other Ministers and MLAs, save for PHED Minister I Hemochandra at Secretariat South Block.
Speaking at the occasion as the chief guest, PHED Minister I Hemochandra said the State has made commendable progress and achievements in the fields of Education, Sports, Health and Agriculture during the last 41 years since the State achieved Statehood.
Even as the State moved towards progression in all fronts, the UGs have been posing hindrance to positive growth.
He also lauded the efforts of some UG groups for coming forward to the Government for talks.
Hemochandra also said a lot need to be done in order to secure a place for the State among the clusters of developed States of India by 2010 .
In order to achieve the feat, all stakeholders must exert and exploit all available resources.
The minister said all concerned have the responsibility to shape the future of the State to right direction while calling upon to give thrust in brining a prosperous and peaceful Manipur.
DGP Y Joykumar and Additional Chief Secretary PC Lawmkunga have also attended the programme besides other top level civil and police officers.
Artists from Shree Shree Bal Mukunda Dev Government Music College, Imphal have rendered patriotic songs in the programme.
