PREPAK(Pro) blames anti-people policy

Imphal, February 06 2022: The proscribed PREPAK(Pro) has blamed the alleged anti-people policy of the Government and politicians for the misery suffered by the underprivileged people and their dependency mindset.

A statement issued by the outfit's senior publicity officer Melei categorically asked all politicians not to indulge in cheap propaganda while blaming each other in the course of their election campaigns.

Admitting that the outfit collects a small percentage of the subsidised rice doled out by the Government of India quite irregularly, the outfit asserted that it never confiscates the produces of farmers and workers.

A small percentage is collected by the outfit before it falls in the hands of those who sit in the power corridor, it said.

If people are starving on account of the small percentage of rice collected by revolutionary outfits, PREPAK (Pro) would stop collecting its small percentage, the outfit declared.

PREPAK (Pro) never looted any property or money that belonged to the masses to wage the liberation struggle.

On the contrary, the outfit has been waging the liberation struggle with the money and resources that belong to the adversary force, it said.

The State's legislators have not been doing anything to enable farmers engage in double-cropping.

They have not been paying any heed to shrinkage of agricultural lands due to rampant construction activities, the outfit alleged.

Politicians and candidates who have been generating a debate on the availability or unavailability of subsidised rice should understand that paddy fields, canals and streams that they see around them are all invaluable resources which can eradicate poverty, the outfit asserted.

The pathetic road infrastructure seen across the State and absence of job avenues are not results of collecting a small percentage of cheap rice by revolutionary groups.

If the candidates invest their black money in agriculture sincerely to eradicate poverty, they would definitely win elections without campaigning, the outfit said.

Candidates who have the audacity to confiscate paddy fields belonging to Umang Lai, exercise monopoly over certain businesses in the name of revolutionary groups and engage in black marketing by building warehouses at Jiribam in cahoots with police should not try to mislead the masses, it continued.

Revolutionary cadres, led by overground workers, have been working at their best level for the cause of the masses, it said.

"We too are humans and we do not survive on fodder", it said.

There is no harm in contesting elections by holding referendums on whether the small percentage of cheap rice collected by PREPAK (Pro) ought to be accepted or objected.

Based on the results of the referendum, the outfit would decide whether its policy should be reviewed or not, it added.
