ATUM clarifies

Aimol Tribe Union, Manipur (ATUM) has today termed the news report of the people of Aimol community dissolving the office of ATUM led by S Mungthuireng Aimol and electing new executives of the union as unfounded and false, reports our correspondent from Chandel.
According to a statement of the president of ATUM, the meeting which was reportedly attended by 15 Aimol villages at Ngairong village was to merely mislead the Aimol people.
The statement alleged that UKLF cadres under the influence of Ch Chanthoi went to every village of the chairmen, secretaries who according to the news report attended the meeting.
The village chairmen, secretaries were then forced to sign in order to prove their assent to the decision taken by a few vested interested people.
By using gun power, Ch Chanthoi, also a member of ADC Chandel, has shown his deceitful character.
His move was nothing but to fool the people of Aimol community, the statement alleged.
The Greater Imphal Aimol Students' Union, Manipur (GIASUM) has also rebutted the news report on the dissolution of Aimol Tribe Union, Manipur (ATUM) .
GIASUM, in a statement has demanded the elected staff/representatives to withdraw their decision and tender an apology to ATUM sitting president S Munthuireng Aimol, Election Commissioner and the Returning Officer in the interest of the Aimols.
