DC meets with the blind students

Chandel DC Robert Khetrimayum and SDO Machi Dy Julie Anal on Wednesday met the Mission Blind school hunger striking students of Heikakpokpi and asked to stop their agitations.
When some selected media team visited the site of their agitation held in the NH 102 roadside at Heikakpokpi.
Speaking to the media persons at the site of the protest Mission blind school principal K Pareng Kom said that this is the only blind school in the hill districts of Manipur where all the students in every district of Manipur including students from Nagaland came to study.
Pareng said that the school has been functioning since 2003 without taking any help from the government but solely with the support from surrounding people and Assam Rifles donations.
The principal narrated all the school problems to the DC Chandel on Wednesday.
Meanwhile it is informed that Ex MP and MLA BD Behring called up the Chief Minister and Local MLA DK Korungthang but to no positive response.
It may be mentioned that students' union of the Mission Blind school, Heikakpokpi had launched an indefinite hunger strike from Tuesday after the government failed to fulfill their promised to the school authority of providing full fledged school.
The two officials Robert Khetrimayum Chandel DC and Julie Anal SDO Machi gave assurance that they will extend all possible assistance to the students who were undergoing hunger strike to draw the attention of the government.
