Chakpikarong, June 24 2015 :
Former MP and MLA BD Behring on Wednesday said that the education system in the hills remains unchanged even though the State has bagged fifteenth position in the education field with securing 73 percent in all India rank.
He disclosed this during a social service cum donation on the upgrading of Chakpikarong High School to Secondary level.
Speaking on the occasion, BD Behring alleged that the Government of Manipur is not taking interest to improve the education system in the hills.
He was unhappy that the government did not fill up backlog teachers even though many teachers are in short in the hill schools.
"This is intentional and deliberate by the government", Behring said.
Behring said the cabinet has already taken their decision to upgrade the Chakpikarong high school since December last year and the order was also already issued in April last.
The government has not taken up any steps till today to run the school from this session, and the surrounding people started begged for donation to run the school immediately, he said.
This is the only higher secondary school in the Chakpikarong Sub division, Behring said.
The School is being run by 11 teachers without Mathematics and Science teachers since many years and over 37 teaching staff and lab technicians post are still backlogged for the newly upgraded higher secondary school.
He alleged that state government is focusing only on the valley schools only.
He said "If some people point out shortage of teachers in the valley the government immediately fills the posts but when hill people the government remains silent" .
The government also transferred hill teachers for the valley schools, if such government policy continues in the state the hills schools will remain unchanged, he added.
Meanwhile Additional Director (S) Hills, Government of Manipur Hmangte Lerte Kom MCS appreciated the works of the people for taking initiative steps to upgrading the school into higher secondary school level.
He is briefly checking the school infrastructure, Kom said.
Kom promised to provide necessary needs before the school session starts.
He told that biometric attendance will install in the school and threatened to take necessary actions against the staffs who has found guilty.
Surrounding chiefs, intellectuals, government representatives, students also participated in the programmed.
