Setting a benchmark in mid-day meal scheme implementation in the State, a school has been found maintaining a registration book where the signatures of parents whose children are given mid-day meal at school are recorded every time the children are given mid-day meal.
This was come across by an official inspection team of the State Nodal Officer (Mid-day Meal) during a surprise visit on Monday.
According to an official source, the school authority of Laimanai Primary School has maintained a registration book recording the signatures of the parents of children who were given mid-day meal.
This is clear evidence that mid-day meal scheme is implemented effectively at the school, the source confided.
The official team conducted surprise visit to seven schools on Monday.
No mid-day meal was served at two schools� Aimol Primary School, which was closed for summer vacation, and Langmeidong Primary School, where half-yearly exam was in progress.
A total of eight schools were covered during such surprise visit today.
Two schools �Khamlangba Primary School and Moirangkampu Sajeb Upper Primary School were found closed.
Mid-day meals were found served to children at the rest of the schools.
The source also said that implementation of mid-day meal scheme is likely to be more effective following the surprise visit.
