Improvement in MDM Scheme in 3 districts, claims official

Imphal, June 24 2015 :
In continuation of surprise visits to schools covered under Mid Day Meal (MDM) Scheme, a team comprising officials from education directorate conducted surprise inspections at seven schools in Thoubal and Chandel districts and eight schools in Imphal zone on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The inspection was conducted under the advice of Secretary Education(s) and Director of Education(s).
It may be mentioned that two headmasters and one headmistress has been suspended for not implementing the MDM scheme.
In a press release, State Nodal Officer/MDM, Directorate of Education(s) RK Tenedy Singh said such inspections would be continued in future.
On Tuesday, the State MDM Team visited Pallen Junior High School meal served to 27 students.
At Aimol Primary School (Chandel), there were no students as the summer vacation was on.
The team visited Lamjao Primary School (meal served to 14); Lanai Upper Primary School (meal served to 36); Langmeidong Primary School (meal not served due to term exam); Langmeidong Higher Secondary School (meal served); Laimanai Primary School (meal served) .
The team also found that in Laimanai, there was the commendable practice of parents signing on a register for each meal served to the students.
On Wednesday, the State MDM team visited the following schools Khamlangba Primary School (school found closed at 10:30 am); Khunthoknganbi Upper Primary School (meal served to 9 out of 49); Sinam Nodia Upper Primary School (meal served to 8 out of 34); Awang Kongpal Maloti Primary School (meal served 14 out of 56); Moirangkampu Sajeb Upper Primary School (closed at 12:45 noon); Top Disarm Primary School (meal served to 43 out 95); Top Dusara High School (meal served to 24 out of 46) and Minuthong Feiza Junior High School (meal served to 75 out of 134) .
In all the schools visited, the team found there was marked improvement in the implementation of the scheme, said the press release.
