Imphal, December 12 2011:
A 40 year old woman was shot and injured by a 30 year old man in connection with a land dispute this morning.
On the other hand, a house built on the disputed plot has been dismantled by the local people.
RK Thabaton (40) of Sagolband Bijoy Govinda Mamang Leikai was shot by RK Naocha (30) of the neighbouring locality at about 8.30 am today.
Thabaton was hit by a bullet on the left thigh.
She has been taken to RIMS.
A plot of land belonging to Thabaton's younger brother Purnachandra was mortgaged about 4/5 years back to one Meihoubam Kiranbala of Sagolband Mabudhou Mantri Leikai.
There was a report that Kiranbala asked for a free passage through the mortgaged land and this sparked a dispute.
Kiranbala even offered to purchase the mortgaged land.
A few days back, RK Naocha gave a written statement together with a bullet to the family of RK Thabaton and asked to settle all the disputes within 10 days.

He also threatened not to inform police or local Meira Paibi group.
Naocha came to Thabaton's house this morning and a heated altercation broke out between Naocha and Thabaton's elder brother RK Bijoy.
Minutes later, Naocha ran towards his house and came back with a gun.
He opened fire and the bullet hit Thabaton.
It is said that Naocha's mother Purnimashi and Kiranbala's mother Mema are sisters.
However, Naocha sided with the third party (Kiranbala) in their efforts to settle the dispute which only resulted in today's violent incident.
Whereas Naocha fled away soon after the incident, police have pulled up Kiranbala, Mema and Purnimashi.
On the other hand, Kiranbala's house built on the disputed plot has been dismantled by the local people.
