BJP puts up Thoubal furore in RS, for PR

Violent objections made by some people against holding election meeting of BJP in the home constituency of Chief Minister Okram Ibobi at Thoubal Moijing yesterday was put up in the Rajya Sabha during zero hour today.
BJP has also demanded imposition of President's Rule in Manipur and also to institute a CBI enquiry into yesterday's furore.
On the other hand, a team of BJP leaders led by their president Nitin Gadkari would come to Imphal on December 19 to take first hand account of the election scenario of Manipur.
The first batch of BJP candidates who would contest in the Manipur Legislative elections may be announced during their visit to Imphal.
Speaking to media persons today, BJP state unit president Sh Shantikumar strongly condemned the abortive attempt made by some people to disrupt a public meeting organised by BJP at Thoubal Moijing yesterday.
He said that the matter was raised in Rajya Sabha during zero hour today in addition to demanding imposition of President's Rule in Manipur.
Raising the issue in Rajya Sabha today, BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said that elections could not be held in a free and fair manner under SPF Government if no election meeting can be held for minority Muslims in Manipur.
He demanded imposition of President's Rule in Manipur after disbanding the incumbent Government and also to institute a CBI enquiry into yesterday's incident.
Prakash Javadekar's demand was supported by SS Ahluwalia, Shantikumar conveyed.
Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh has also been apprised about yesterday's incident in detail.
Though there is no BJP MLA and MP in Manipur, BJP leaders have been raising issues and problems related to Manipur in the Parliament.
This is a clear testimony of how concerned BJP is with the affairs of Manipur, Shantikumar asserted.
The BJP leaders have also been urged to take up the matter with Election Commission officials and also to ensure that necessary actions are initiated without delay.
In connection with the Manipur Legislative Assembly elections, a highlevel BJP team led by president Nitin Gadkari would come to Imphal on December 19.A mass rally would be taken out on the same day and the BJP president would address a public meeting.
Informing that hectic negotiation is underway on seat sharing with non-Congress political parties, Shantikumar said that the BJP president may announce the first list of BJP candidates who would contest in the Manipur Legislative Assembly elections provided there is consensus.
BJP state unit vice-president Prof S Tiken also condemned the furore raised by suspected Congress supporters of Chief Minister O Ibobi against holding election meeting of BJP at Thoubal Moijing yesterday.
For terming BJP as anti-Muslim, the Congress party, which claims to be upholding the principle of secularism, should tender apology to the people.
