In pursuit of their demand for district status on Sadar Hills, the SHDDC had imposed an economic blockade from August 1 and suspended it at the midnight of October 31' following an MoU signed with the Government of Manipur.
No deadline was given in the MoU for upgradation of Sadar Hills to the status of a district in the MoU though it was generally understood that the SHDDC would wait for the District Re-organisation Committee to submit its report.
Three months was the time given to the District Re-organisation Committee to submit its report, but the deadline has already lapsed.
Another meeting of the DRC is scheduled on December 14 .
