Women race in the spirit of Nupi Lan

Imphal, December 12 2011:
State Level Nupi Lan Ningsing Lamjel Organising Committee organised the 20th State Level Nupi Lan Memorial Race today on the occasion of Nupi Lan Memorial Day 2011 .
Participated by 471 women from different parts of the State, the race was started at 7 am from Nupilan memorial complex and finished at head office of the organising committee located at Singjamei super market.
The participants of this prestigious event were categorised as Blue group (age 35 to 49), Yellow group (age 50 to 59) and Green group (age 60 and above) .
K Sonia of Thiyam Konjil got the first position in the Blue category, where K Inakhunbi Devi of Bamon Kampu and S Babita of Mongsangei got second and third position.
For Yellow group, Y Ibeyaima Devi of Lamjao Makha Leikai got first position, Nongthombam Bina of Lamsang Bazar and Toijam Ketuki of Kiyamgei got second and third position respectively.
In the oldest age group category of the race, for Green group, Thoudam Akashini Devi of Wangoi Makha Leikai won first position where Th Ibemhal of Khongjom Bazar and Ningthoujam (N) Longjam (O) Memcha of Lilong Chajing won second and third position.
The winners were honoured with certificates, blankets and monetary award of Rs 100 each.
Two minutes silence was observed in fond memory of the patriotic women who died in Nupi Lan.
In Moreh, several organisations such as Kha Nongpok Apunba Nupi Lup, Nupi Khunai Chaokhat Lamjing Lup, Muslim Women Development Association and Minority Women Development Society have jointly organised the observance of 72th Nupi Lan Memorial Day at premises of Kondong Leirembi, Moreh.
As part of the commemoration, a race for the womenfolk between the age group of 40 to 50 was also organised.
Meanwhile, Apunba Jiribam Meira Paibi, Jiribam Ima Meira Paibi Apunba Lup in collaboration with WACAK Jiri branch also observed Nupi Lan Memorial Day 2011 at Jiribam Higher Secondary School with a public meeting and a race for womenfolk along with a torch rally in the evening.
In another observation, Keirao Kendra Self-help groups co-ordinating committee also organised Nupi Lan Memorial Day at Urup Junior High School.
A rally was organised with various members of the SHG in Keirao area.
The observation was graced by Social worker MI Khan, Pradhan of Keirao Makting Ranjita, Up-pradhan Keirao Makting Mery, A Chouni, Korung Maring, K Raj, MS Songdram and KS Adershan Tangkhul.
