Sangai festival House models of communities to be showcased

With an aim to promote the rich culture and tradition of different ethnic communities of the State, house models of all the communities of the State will be showcased for the first time during this year's Manipur Sangai Festival.
Talking exclusively with The Sangai Express, Tourism Commissioner Nidhi Mani Tripathi said that these house models would be erected at the northern portion of Hapta Kangjeibung.
It is a part of the Government's effort to introduce innovative ideas in this year's edition of the biggest tourism fair of the State, she said.
Nidhi Mani expressed hope that the visitors would be able to gather information and gain knowledge about different ethnic communities of the State through this new addition.

She said that special lighting effects would illuminate these traditional houses to attract the attention of the visitors at night.
Moreover, traditional attires, tools and utensils would adorn these houses to make the visitors understand the particular community easily, she said.
Workers have started construction of house models of Meitei Yumjao, Tangkhul, Mao, Kuki, Meitei Pangal, Rongmei, Thadou, Chothe and Paite etc at Hapta Kangjeibung.
Beautification, decoration and lighting effects would be added after the completion of construction, a worker said.
On the otherhand, security has already been enhanced at Hapta Kangjeibung well ahead of the opening of the ten-day festival on November 21 to thwart unwanted incidents.
Imphal East district police have been providing security at the festival venue round the clock since the past few weeks.
The festival is scheduled to be held from November 21 to 30 .
A large number of foreign delegates are expected to visit the State during these 10 days.
