Imphal, December 22 2022:
Health and IPR Minister Dr.S Ranjan Singh has said, "We should not feel that we are Covid free even though the Covid active caseload had dropped to zero in the State".
Dr S Ranjan was speaking as chief guest at the annual project meeting on COVID-19 vaccination held at Classic Grande here today.
Dr Ranjan maintained that the pandemic situation still remains alarming in some countries, according to recent reports.
"We should not be complacent just because there is zero active case in the State rather we should work on preventive measures", he added.
He informed that the percentage of Covid vaccination is below average in most of the hill districts.
This needs to be reviewed since vaccination is the most effective way to fight Covid.
The role played by NGOs in the State particularly those working in the hill districts on Covid vaccination and awareness is really commendable.
Without their effort and cooperation, the rate of vaccination might have been much lower, he said..
Dr S Ranjan also suggested that people should not hesitate in taking booster doses.
A souvenir was also published in connection with the event which was jointly organized by CASA, USAID, Momentus and NHM Manipur.
Later, Dr S Ranjan also attended the foundation day of Apunba Chaokhat Thourang Lup, Yurembam Awang Mamang Leikai, Imphal West as chief guest.
