Noting that a number of minor children are being engaged as workers in hotels, he also expressed concern on the increasing number of womenfolk employed as agricultural labourers.
Further lamenting that wages of child labourers are minimal inspite of exhaustive working hours, Hemochandra called upon councillors, ward members, pradhans and zilla parishad members to ensure that the upcoming survey on child labour is a successful campaign.
Urging the survey conductors to work with sincerity and desist from the injudicious conduct such as listing Government employees under the below poverty line category, he said that wrongful entry of data will hamper Government initiatives to address socio-economic problems of the under-privileged section of the society.
