Imphal, December 15 2012:
Thadou Students' Association-Chandel district (TSA-Chandel) has threaten to agitate if the security force personnel involved in the December 11-12 torturing of three civilians are not booked by December 17 by the State Government.
It may be recalled here that three persons from Chandel district who came down for Christmas shopping were allegedly picked up by a combined team of Army and State police commandos from Paona Bazar, Imphal in the evening of December 11.They were let off after being tortured and robbed of their money the following day.
TSA-Chandel general secretary James Haokip informed NNN over phone that the students' body has demanded for the termination of the security force personnel involved in the incident.
The TSA also demanded that the money robbed off by the security force be returned to the three victims.
Meanwhile, the Thadou Students Association-Sadar Hills and Imphal Branch termed the incident as outrageous and condemned the incident in the strongest term.
The TSA-Sadar Hills and Imphal Branch expressed concerned that security force personnel in the world's biggest country could commit such gross human rights violation.
"This evinces the rotten conditions of the security apparatus.
This is the reason why the Manipur police commandos have earned the tag of the most notorious and indisciplined force in the whole world," the TSA-Sadar Hills-Imphal Branch said.
The TSA-Sadar Hills and Imphal Branch then said, "The name of Manipur police commandos itself conjured up a sense of fear and insecurity among the civilians," the two bodies added.
Meanwhile, Thadou Students Association-General Headquarters (TSA-Ghq) while condemning the December 11-12 incident has demanded from the concerned authority to book the culprits at the earliest or else it is ready to take up strong form of agitation.
The TSA-Ghq terms the incident as inhuman and shocking.
"How can security force personnel who are supposed to be the law keepers commit such act?" the apex Thadou student body asked.
"There is nothing more criminal in the eye of the law if the law keepers violate the law," it added.
The TSA also said that torturing someone amounts to violating human rights.
The apex Thadou student body then said all social organisations should join hands to fight against such inhuman activities of the security force personnel.
