Inriangluang cautions villagers against giving rent to non-locals

The Tamenglong (Inriangluang) Village Authority organized a public meeting at Unity Stadium, Tamenglong Baptist Church Complex on 5th July 2012 and adopted a number of resolutions on the prevailing situation in the district.
According to a statement issued by its Chairman Keiramphui AK Pamei, apart from other matters, the meeting deliberately on various issues related to Naga factional fighting and disturbances caused to the public, oil exploration in Zeliangrong areas.
The meeting upheld the earlier resolutions taken by Naga factions and Zeliangrong Elders Forum for Peace Broker at Puilon village.
Regarding the tax collection, the meeting resolved that the money cannot be paid to anyone who threatens or harms and disturbs the tax payers and no taxes should be collected from the people for buying plots, building houses, spending on wine or engaging in immoral activities.
Further, the meeting resolved that each community must stay alert and united and response to the call for any emergency occurrence in and around the village.
Any armed faction which wants to pass through the village must take prior permission from the village authority concerned and must not stay or lodge in the civil/ individual house.
The meeting noted that Tamenglong HQs is part of Inriangluang (Tamenglong) given as notified area by the government for administration and any incident that took place within their jurisdiction should be the responsibility of the village authorities concerned.
The meeting also shared the grief and expressed solidarity with the villagers of Haochong and Phalong, who have suffered barbaric brutality recently and issued a clarion call to all the Naga factions to know their true goal of the nation and work in unity.
Regarding the oil exploration, the meeting resolved that every community should be given prior information before any deal for investigation or exploration.
Consequent to the meeting, the local people have also been informed to exercise restraint and wisdom while giving rent or renting shops to the non-locals in the village and HQs in due consideration of the fact that local business is being affected, the statement added.
