Awareness programme on Plastic Surgery held

Imphal, July 12 2012:
To commemorate the 'National Plastic Surgery Day' on July 15, an awareness programme on "Scope of Plastic Surgery" was organized at the Auditorium of Shija Hospitals and Research Institute (SHRI) Complex at Langol today with Dr.Krishnamani, Former Plastic Surgeon of SHRI as Chairperson.
As a part of this commemoration, SHRI also will facilitate a free plastic surgery consultation program on July 15 from 8 am to 12 noon.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr.Kh Palin, MD, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeon of SHRI briefed the gathering on the scope of plastic surgery, various factors of its application and cleared the misconception of plastic surgery.
Elaborating on the three types of plastic surgery viz.
Reconstructive, Aesthetic/Cosmetic and Anti Aging plastic surgery, he stressed on the various factors responsible for aging of human being and provided tips on anti aging process.
Plastic Surgery Department was established at RIMS in 1983.At present there are four Plastic Surgeons in the state with two at SHRI and the other two at RIMS.
Wellness Centre for mind, body and spirit is accommodated at SHRI to attract medical tourism in the state.
Health is the only sector which can be sold to Myanmar.
Various plastic surgeries were performed successfully at SHRI and has claimed for another Guinness World Record for the biggest tumor removed successfully, he added.
During the discussion session, Dr.Ibohal Singh, Plastic Surgeon of SHRI spoke on hair transplant, and time frame and storage of the amputated part to be brought at the hospital for reconstructive surgery.
