Imphal, July 12 2012:
Former MLA O Joy has demanded that a House committee be constituted to establish all the anomalies and errors committed by the Legislative Assembly and its Secretariat.
Referring to the news report published in this daily on July 1 about the abnormally large number of staff existing in the Assembly, Joy said that the matter may be raised in the House as a substantive motion according to rules and provisions of the Constitution.
Or police may be asked to file an FIR case under Prevention of
Corruption Act 1947 .

Joy said he was making this statement in the interest of the dignity of the House, democracy and the public.
In the polity of parliamentary democratic system, most particularly in the Commonwealth parliamentary countries, the legislative bodies like Parliament and State legislatures in India are considered as sacrosanct in view of their power, privileges, immunities, dignity and character of sovereign nature.
