Tamenglong readies for Assembly polls

Tamenglong, January 08 2012:
Hectic preparation is underway for the forthcoming 10 general State Assembly Election in Tamenglong where as many as 75959 voters are set to exercise their franchise to elect their representatives on 28 January, 2012 .
Out of the total 75959 voters in the district, Tamei- 52 AC has 30190 voters with 14944 male and 15246 female voters, Tamenglong- 53 AC has 2441 voters with 12353 male and 12058 female voters and Nungba-54 AC has 10536 total voters with 10536 male and 10822 female voters.
Acting on the instructions of Election Commission of India and Chief Electoral Officer, Manipur, the District Election Officer/Returning Officer Tamenglong has issued notification inviting aspiring candidates to file the nomination paper not later than 11 January 2012.However, no candidates have filed their nomination paper till today.
Two more days have been left for filing nomination papers.
Scrutiny of the nomination papers will be done on 12 January 2012 at the office of Returning Officer Tamenglong while withdrawal of nomination papers may be delivered within 14 January 2012 either by proposer or by the aspiring candidates themselves in written.
The district Superintendent of Police has also announced 41 polling stations as hyper sensitive, 105 polling stations as sensitive and no polling station as normal against 146 polling stations in the district.
Out of 41 hyper- sensitive polling stations, 31 Polling Stations alone are in Nungba-54 AC and 10 Polling Stations are in Tamei- 52 AC.
Out of 105 sensitive polling stations, 9 are in Nungba- 54 AC, Tamenglong-53 AC and 53 polling stations in Tamei-52 AC.
