Speaking at the public meeting, Chinglen Meisnam of Economics Department, MU said that in today's society where every community is thinking only about their own community, it is good to see that the victims of violence have come together to fight for justice.
Chinglen, however, expressed regret over the fact that only few number of women are coming out to help women victims of domestic violence and other crimes although a large number of them are engaging in issues related to elections and lobbying party tickets.
It is not because of fate that one faces violence and untold miseries, but the current political system of the society.
We cannot just runaway from the problems.
All political parties should be made to include specific clauses in their manisfesto to protect women and children against crime, he observed.
OJ Meetei, Consultant, United NGOs Mission Manipur proposed that a policy should be framed to counter crimes and violence committed against women and children.
After the protest rally and the public meeting, the five NGOs submitted a memorandum to the Congress President Sonia Gandhi through FAX.
