No let up in CorCom assails on Cong offices, workers, MLA residences

Despite tight security arrangements put in place all over the state in connection with the ensuing general election to the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly, the Coordination Committee (CorCom) of seven UG groups continues its attack on the houses of Congress MLAs, candidates, workers and part offices in many parts of the state.
An Improvised Explosive Devise (IED) weighing about 2 kg was found planted at Congress Bhavan in the heart of Imphal this morning.
The explosive was found planted near the eastern side (wall) of the Congress office.
It was detected by security personnel posted around the area at around 8.15 am today.
Manipur Police bomb squad rushed to the spot and retrieved the IED and disposed off safely at an open place at Langol at around 11 am.
On the other hand, a Chinese made hand grenade was found lying on the roof of the house of one Laishram Sanjay of Khurai Chingambam Leikai, who is an immediate neighbour of MLA Dr Ng Bijoy around 10 am today.
Police suspected that the bomb may have been hurled at the house of Dr Ng Bijoy but could not reach and fell on the roof of his neighbour.
The bomb has been later on disposed off by a bomb squad of Manipur Police.
Earlier at about 5 am today, CorCom cadres hurled a bomb at the house of one Paonam Khogen of Chajing Karam Awang Leikai, who is a worker of Congress candidate of Langthabal Assembly Constituency Waikhom Shyama.
The bomb, however, did not explode and has been picked up and later disposed off by the bomb experts of the Manipur Police Department at an open field.
In yet another incident, a grenade exploded at the house of Moirangthem Ranjit of Khangabok Meisnam Leikai, who is a worker of Congress MLA Okram Ongbi Landhoni of Khangabok A/C on the night of January 7 at around 9.30 pm.
The bomb fell at the courtyard of the house and exploded.
No one was injured in the incident.
Meanwhile, police recovered an unexploded hand grenade from the house of one Irom Ongbi Ibetombi, Chairperson of Manipur State Commission for Women at around 10 pm yesterday.
The bomb was suspected to have been hurled at by some unknown persons.
It may be mentioned that Ibetombi is the mother of Congress MLA I Hemochandra of Singjamei A/C.In Kumbi, Congress workers found a hand grenade inside a newly constructed Congress office when they open the office today morning at around 7.Police bomb experts retrieved the bomb.
Armed cadres of CorCom also triggered a bomb blast at the election office of Congress party opened at the house of one Congress worker identified as Oinam Pandit of Charangpat Mamang Leikai last night.
One person identified as Thingujam Lukhoi sustained injuries in the blast.
Oinam Pandit is said to be a worker of the Congress candidate K Meghachandra of Wangkhem A/C.Local people of Charangpat Mamang Leikai today staged a sit-in-protest decrying the bomb attack.
