'Kuthi' to be written in native language

Imphal, January 08 2012:
The Bengali and Sanskrit languages used in writing "Kuthi" is to be replaced and substituted by Manipuri language according to a resolution passed by at a one day discussion session organised by Kangleipak Calendar Board at Manipur Press Club here today.
The day-long discussion session also adopted a number of resolutions.
The resolutions include using of the foreign language for the time being if exact words to be translated were not found in Manipuri language and to constitute a sub-committee to search for the right words in the old manuscripts, to discuss minutely on the words submitted by resource persons and to take the opinion of people, to come up with a new format on writing "Kuthi" and to replace the old words with new words easily known to the general public and finally to make the "Kuthi" acceptable to all the communities settling in the state.
Participating in the discussion session as the Chief Guest, Leishemba Sanajaoba, Titular King of Manipur observed that a calendar is the closest Astrologer of the people.
People always look up in the calendar whenever anything important is to be undertaken.
It is also very fortunate that the Kangleipak Calendar Board has come up with a common calendar which is acceptable to all the people in the state.
Presidedm over by Wangkheimayum Homendro, President Kangleipak Calendar Board, the discussion session was also attended by B Rajendra Sharma of Govindaji Temple Board as the Guest of Honour.
A book entitled "Kanglei Khutpai" was also released on the occasion.
