Prof Khagendra awarded Jawaharlal Nehru Fellow

Prof Naorem Khagendra has been awarded the prestigious Jawaharlal Nehru Fellow to publish a book on the various Gods worshipped by the people of Manipur.
The Fellow has been given by a Trust of the Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Fund.
Prof Naorem Khagendra is the only one who has been selected this year from among many writers of the country.
The award would enable Prof Naorem Khagendra to do an in-depth research work on the origin of these Gods and Goddess worship by the people in Manipur and their related philosophies.
During the course of the Fellowship he will be given a monthly salary of Rs 60,000 for a year.
A felicitation function in honour of Prof Khagendra was hosted by Cultural Forum Manipur at Rupmahal Tank today with Khuymanthem Prakash, renowned writer and Dr S Chaoba, President of Cultural Forum Manipur as Chief Guest and President respectively.
