Imphal, June 02 2015 :
The way how the ADC election was held yesterday was rather farcical and majority of the voters could not vote based on their own free will, said BJP Manipur Pradesh general secretary (administration) M Ashnikumar.
Speaking to media persons at their Nityaipat Chuthek office this afternoon here, Ashnikumar maintained that results of the election held yesterday could not be counted as people's mandate as the whole exercise was characterised by voting before the polling hours, smashing of ballot boxes, pouring ink into ballot boxes, tearing of ballot papers, abduction of political workers, intimidation of village chiefs and large scale proxy voting.
Armed cadres of NSCN-IM led by Kilonsers, Deputy Kilonsers and CAOs were directly involved in such electoral malpractices in Ukhrul, Senapati, Tamenglong and Chandel, he alleged.
Likewise, militants under SoO pacts employed all kinds of arm twisting tactics in favour of Congress candidates or their chosen candidates in Sadar Hills, Churachandpur and Chandel.
The BJP Ukhrul district president was held captive by NSCN-IM cadres until the polling hours were over.
All electorate stayed indoor in some polling stations of certain DCCs located within Tamei sub-division of Tamenglong district.
ZRA cadres were directly involved in massive proxy voting at Churachandpur district headquarters, Ashnikumar alleged.
Extensive disruptive activities and undue interference from different quarters are clear testimony of the incumbent Congress Government's failure to take governance to the hill districts.
Security measures taken up for the ADC election were full of lapses and drawbacks, he asserted.
BJP Manipur Pradesh has written to the State Election Commission to hold repoll in all polling stations where different forms of electoral malpractices were witnessed, he added.
