A BJP candidate from Tamenglong district's 10-Phaitoul constituency has demanded the State Government on Tuesday that IRB personnel should not be deployed further at the Kamai 10/4 polling station for which re-poll is likely to be conducted.
The BJP candidate, P Thongsei Singson, who is also the vice president of the Tamenglong District BJP, was speaking to media persons here in this regard, reports Jiri News Network.
Singson said the Polling Officer and the other personnel were being kept at the residence of the village chief while the ballot boxes and ballot papers were being taken away to the 7th IRB camp after the polling for the Autonomous District Council (ADC) polls held on June 1.He said the villagers protested against the illegal act of the IRB personnel who fired several rounds in the air to threaten the agitators.
"If re-poll is to be conducted at the 10/4 polling station, we want the Government to deploy Assam Rifles or other force at the booth," he demanded.
