Imphal, July 27 2022:
Integrity Protection Day was observed today at the office of the All Club Organisation, Association and Meira Paibi Lup (ACOAM-Lup).
In a statement issued today, Angouton Khuman, publicity secretary ACOAM-Lup said the phrase 'without territorial limit' was inserted in the Bangkok Agreement signed between the NSCN (IM) and Government of India on June 14, 2001, that had the potential to alter the boundary of Manipur.
Following this, the people rose against the decision in large numbers winch led to the death of 18 individuals in security forces' action to control the protest, added the statement.
Following the mass protest, it was on this day in 2001 (July 26) that the phrase was finally removed and ACOAM-Lup has been observing the day as integrity Protection Day to commemorate the historic day, he added.
ACOAM-Lup had planned to observe the day in a grand manner but had to drop the plan due to the recent rise in the number of COVID-19 cases.
