MNCA Plate Tournament: SSU beat OSCAR by 80 runs for second win

SSU, Singjamei defeated OSCAR, Paona Bazar by 80 runs fortheir second Group B league stage victory in the 6th MNCA Plate Tournament today at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium.
SSU won the toss and racked up a moderate 180 for all wickets down in 38.2 overs after electing to bat first today courtesy Rupachandra's unbeaten 57 (off 90 balls) and rode on exceptional performances of bowlers to bowl OSCAR out for 100 within 23 overs for the huge win.
SSU had a forgettable start today as Sougrakpam Doughlas got out for a golden duck as hit the ball straight to N Surash in the third delivery of the first over before Saikhomba Thongam was dismissed by T Lenin in the first delivery of the second over to reduce to team to 3-2.When SSU started thinking that they were on the recovery path, Surash and Lenin took their turns to remove Dingku G (18) and Robertson (20) leaving them teetering at 46 for 4 in 6.2 overs.
The fifth wicket stand however resurrected the SSU innings with Rupachandra and Sujeet (38) forging an 89 run partnership to take the tally to 135.After Sujeet got run out for the fifth wicket, N Surash and T Lenin swung into action again to pile misery on SSU batters with the tricky line and length and led the battling collapse.
N Surash returned with the best bowling figures of 4 for 46 in his spell of 7.2 overs while T Lenin finished with 3 for 34 runs in 7 overs.
Nongmaithem Bijendro and Robin Irengbam also managed a wicket each in this innings.
OSCAR who have beaten CDC by 9 wickets in the opening match of the tourney, despite the clean bowling performance, saw their batting line up implode in the chase and succumbed at 100 with SSU bowlers making a concerted and cautious effort.
Sorokhaibam Samson (20) and Nongmaithem Bijendro (21 not out) were the only batters who posted double digit scores for SSU in the chase which witnessed SSU's Dingku G (2/21), Chungkham Gugu (2/20), Jayananda P (2/10), L Ricky (2/22) and Saikhomba Thongam (2/16) all claiming two wickets each.
Rupachandra who hit an unbeaten half century for SSU was adjudged man of the match.
