Imphal, June 24 2022:
World War-II veteran Achung Kom of Khoirentak Khuman village, Churachandpur passed away today.
He was 107 .
Achung Kom, s/o (L) Sengneimun was born at Khoirentak in January 1915 .
He received the Award of Tamrapatras on January 26, 1975 at Imphal.
Achung was also a former chief of Khoirentak village (1956-2003) .
The Khoirentak Khuman Village Authority and Khoirentak Khuman Youth Club condoled the demise of Achung Kom.

The funeral service was held today at his village.
It may be mentioned that Achung served as porter of the Japanese forces during World War-II and was arrested by the British Allied Forces while carrying luggage of the Japanese troops at Leimaton village.
He was put in Imphal Jail from January 16, 1944 to July 20, 1944 .
