Greetings pour in for Ningol Chakkouba

Governor La Ganesan, Chief Minister N Biren Singh, Cabinet Ministers and several political parties and organisations have conveyed their greeting to the people of Manipur on the occasion of Ningol Chakkouba 2022 .
"My heartiest greetings to the people of Manipur, especially our beloved sisters on the auspicious occasion of Ningol Chakkouba Festival 2022," read a message from the Governor.
La Ganesan said that the festival helps in promotion of unity and integrity in the society too, apart from rejuvenating family ties.
Saying that Ningol Chakkouba is a very happy and significant occasion, he appealed to all to celebrate the festival in its true spirit with the involvement of different communities to bring peace and prosperity.
N Biren Singh, in his greeting, said that Ningol Chakkouba is one of the biggest festivals of Manipur which is celebrated in the lunar month of Hiyangei.
Saying that the festival reinforces the most revered bond between brothers and sisters and between parents and married daughters, the Chief Minister said that Ningol Chakkouba is now celebrated by other communities too.
The festival also promotes the feeling of peaceful coexistence and harmonious living by reaffirming 'our faith in the traditional values of family,' he added.
Health and IPR Minister Dr Sapam Ranjan Singh also extended his best wishes to the people of Manipur on the occasion of Ningol Chakkouba.
In his greetings, the Minister said that Ningol Chakkouba is one of the most important and widely celebrated festivals of Manipur marking the strengthened bond of love and respect between brothers and sisters in particular and parental families in general.
"Happy Ningol Chakkouba to all," he wished.
Education Minister Th Basantakumar also prayed for prosperous Manipur on the occasion.
In his message, Basantakumar stated that the basic essence of Ningol Chakkouba is tightening the bond between married ladies and their paternal families.
The festival focuses on love between brothers and sisters, the Minister said and appealed to all to celebrate Ningol Chakkouba in its true essence with the theme of integrity and peaceful coexistence.
Textiles, Commerce and Industry & Co-operation Minister Nemcha Kipgen conveyed his wishes to all the people of Manipur, especially Ningols on the occasion of Ningol Chakkouba Festival.
She said that the Ningol Chakkouba festival is also celebrated with much enthusiasm and traditional fervour by different social organisations in different places.
"May this festival continue to bind all the people of Manipur as one close knit family coupled with a spirit of love and oneness," the Minister prayed.
MAHUD Minister Yumnam Khemchand, while greeting the people, said that Ningol Chakkouba is a social festival of Meiteis wherein married daughters visit their parents along with their children and enjoy a sumptuous feast.
It is a form of family reunion, he said.
Water Resources Minister Awangbow Newmai stated that Ningol Chakkouba is a special day for the Ningols.
While extending his wishes, Awangbow Newmai said that Ningol Chakkouba is celebrated to strengthen the bond of love and affections among the brothers and sisters, daughters and parents of a family.
The Minister also prayed for the festival to bring happiness, peace, harmony, love and the awareness of unity to all.
Power Minister Th Biswajit too extended his warm wishes and best greetings to all the Ningols on the joyous occasion of Ningol Chakkouba 2022 .
"Ningol Chakkouba is a special day for the Ningols and on this auspicious day, married women are invited by their brothers and parents to a feast and given 'Dakshina' at the parental homes," the Minister said and added that celebration of such festivals play an important role in spreading the message of brotherhood and harmony in the society at large.
The political parties and organisations which have wished the people on the occasion include Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC), Manipur People's Party (MPP), Manipur Peoples' Democratic Front (MPDF), Chingtam Ningol Chakkouba Observation Committee and Patsoi Kendra Development Council (PKDC), Komrem Union, North East India, Kanglei Indigenous Martial Arts and Cultural Society (KIMACS) .
