UCM assures support to remote border areas of State

Imphal, October 26 2022:
United Committee Manipur (UCM) in association with Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) distributed 2000 cashew nut plants to the farmers of Behiang Range and Mualzin village in Churachandpur today.
Speaking on the occasion, Joychandra Konthoujam, president UCM stated that the cashew nut plants were distributed as part of the Committee's ongoing initiative to provide aid and support to people residing in the border areas of the State, a statement issued by UCM has informed.
Further, he said that the goal was to ensure that people of this region have an income stream and to increase their overall production to bring about a land self-sufficient in the food sector.

Assuring that UCM will visit remote areas of the State where Government schemes have no reach and draft reports on the problems related to health, education and electricity, he sought the support and help of relevant authorities to address the issues that will be highlighted in the reports.
Joychandra Konthoujam then maintained that progress and development in Manipur is not possible without developing the far-flung regions and hill areas.
So far UCM has distributed many plants in various areas including cashew nut, bamboo, litchi, tree beans etc with the hope that planting these will help people economically as well as provide some relief to the environmental crisis, he said.
Lastly, he assured that UCM will continue to provide support to the residents of remote border areas and also urged the Government to do the same.
