NYK, Thoubal organises cleanliness drive

As a part of the ongoing Clean India 2.0 & Service and Empowerment Through Voluntary Action (SEVA), Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK), Thoubal organised a cleanliness drive around Lilong Usoipokpi Bazar and Lilong Haoreibi College campus on Wednesday in collaboration with NSS Unit I, II and III of the College and volunteers of YEDS, Moijing.
In a release, NYK, Thoubal district youth officer Michael T Mate informed that the cleanliness drive with focus on "Single Use Plastic wastes" began at the College campus at 8 am before heading to Usoipokpi Bazar and National Highway.
It was participated by Lilong College NSS officers and students, and volunteers of NYK and YEDS.
Around 150 kilograms of discarded plastic wastes collected during the drive were disposed of in an eco-friendly manner, Michael Mate said, adding that the NSS volunteers of the college were officially enrolled to NYK, Thoubal through intensive volunteers enrolment programme (IVEP 2022) at the end of the drive.
Informing that the month-long nationwide Clean India 2.0 (Swachh Bharat 2022) was launched on October 1 by Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Anurag Thakur at Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, the youth officer said since its launch, NYK, Thoubal has been conducting similar cleanliness drives and social services on daily basis throughout the district.
The same will continue till October 30 .
