CM attends conference on war against drugs at Sora

Imphal, March 11 2021:
Chief Minister N Biren stated that the State Government's war on drugs campaign has now taken the shape of a people's movement as several communities have extended support and cooperation to the campaign.
He stated this while attending a conference on "War Against Drugs" organized by Anjuman Nasrul Islam at Sora Karanchi Playground, Kakching district.
During the event, N Biren announced that Sora Karanchi Lower Primary School would be upgraded to High School and added that a water supply scheme would be constructed at Sora in the second phase of Manipur Water Supply Project under the Jal Jeevan Mission-Har Ghar Jal Scheme.
The Chief Minister also stated that the State Government would take into consideration the demands to instal a Primary Health Centre and a market at Sora.
Necessary surveys would be carried out to look into the necessities, he added.
Asking the locals and bodies concerned to assist the Government in nabbing drug peddlers, he stated that a rehabilitation centre for drug users may be set up in the area if needed.
Later, the gathering took a collective pledge to refrain from drug activities and extend full support to the Government's war on drugs campaign.
The conference was also attended by Education Minister Sorokhaibam Rajen, Deputy Chairman, State Planning Board L Rameshwor, MLAs - M Rameshwar, Paonam Brojen and Y Antas Khan among others.
